The slate dial with green Roman numerals took the nickname Wimbledon from the colours of the All England Club, where Rolex has been official timekeeper since 1978. On the 36mm Datejust in yellow Rolesor it sits under a fluted yellow gold bezel.

This Rolex Datejust 36 wears a 36mm Oystersteel and yellow gold case and a slate dial with green Roman numerals. Calibre 3235 inside, on an Oystersteel and yellow gold Oyster bracelet.

Fun fact: Calibre 3235 uses Rolex's Chronergy escapement, which the house says is 15 percent more efficient than a conventional lever escapement, and that is a large part of how it reaches 70 hours of power reserve.

Rolex launched the Datejust in 1945, the company's fortieth year, as the first self winding chronometer wristwatch to indicate the date in a window on the dial. The Jubilee bracelet was made for that watch and named for the anniversary, and it carries the same name today. The Cyclops lens over the date and the fluted bezel are the other two tells, though smooth and gem set bezels and the Oyster bracelet sit alongside them. The line now runs from the Lady-Datejust at 28 mm through 31, 36 and 41 mm, in steel, in gold and in the two combined, across a wide spread of dials.
