The Seamaster Diver 300M is Omega’s modern dive icon, wave dial and helium valve, on wrists from commercial divers to 007 since 1995. It pairs Master Chronometer resistance to 15,000 gauss with everyday polish.

A Seamaster Diver 300M in 42mm bronze gold, black, applied markers on the wrist. Automatic movement inside.

Fun fact: The Seamaster Diver 300M has been on James Bond's wrist since 1995, and the wave pattern on the dial is laser engraved into ceramic on the current generation. The helium valve at 10 o'clock is the model's signature.

The Diver 300M in Bronze Gold

Why this one matters

The Seamaster Diver 300M arrived in 1993 and became the Omega diver most people recognise, helped by its Bond association from 1995. The line was redrawn in 2018 at 42mm, and this reference joined it in February 2025 with a different set of materials from the steel ceramic-dial models.

The case is solid Omega Bronze Gold, the brand's own gold alloy, set against a burgundy anodized aluminium bezel ring and a matte sandblasted black aluminium dial rather than the laser-cut ceramic used elsewhere in the line. The hands are Bronze Gold plated and the watch is fitted to an integrated black rubber strap. It runs the no-date 8806, which keeps the dial symmetrical and leaves the 6 o'clock position clear.

The movement

Calibre 8806 is a Master Chronometer, tested by METAS as a cased watch as well as by COSC as a movement. It uses a Co-Axial escapement, a free-sprung balance with a silicon balance spring and a single barrel giving 55 hours of reserve, and resists magnetic fields to 15,000 gauss. Leaving the date out removes the calendar works and keeps the dial symmetrical.

On the wrist

42mm with lyre lugs and the conical helium escape valve at 10 o'clock, water resistant to 300m. Bronze Gold is denser than steel, so the case carries more weight than the steel version, and the rubber strap offsets some of that. The warm case colour sits against a matte black aluminium dial and a burgundy bezel ring that is anodized aluminium rather than ceramic.

Questions we are asked about this reference

Why is there no date?

The 8806 is the no-date calibre in this family, and the layout follows the 2020 007 Edition that this part of the line descends from. It keeps the dial symmetrical and leaves the 6 o'clock position clear.

What is Omega Bronze Gold?

It is Omega's own alloy, 9 carat, so 37.5 per cent gold with copper, palladium and silver making up the rest. The palladium and silver slow the patina considerably next to conventional bronze, and the alloy is made for skin contact rather than needing a barrier.

What does Master Chronometer mean in practice?

The finished watch, not just the movement, passes eight METAS tests covering rate, power reserve, water resistance and magnetic resistance to 15,000 gauss.

Seamaster

Omega's water line, from the Aqua Terra dress-sport up through Diver 300M and Planet Ocean

Omega has used the Seamaster name since 1948, when it launched as a water-resistant dress watch. The dive watches arrived with the Seamaster 300 in 1957, and the family now runs from the Aqua Terra to the Planet Ocean. The Diver 300M of 1993 set the template the line is still known for: wave-pattern dial, skeleton hands, helium escape valve on the case side. Planet Ocean sits above it at 600m rather than 300m, with more wrist presence.
