The Aqua Terra is Omega’s everywhere watch, teak lined dial from yacht decks, certified against magnetism beyond anything in a hospital or studio. One watch for sea and land, as the name says.

A Seamaster Aqua Terra in 38mm steel & gold from 2026, blue on the wrist. Calibre 8800 keeps it running.

Fun fact: Aqua Terra dials carry a vertical teak pattern taken from the deck planking of a sailing yacht, and the movement inside resists 15,000 gauss, fifteen times the old Milgauss standard.

The reference in depth

Aqua Terra 38 in blue, steel and Sedna gold

Why this one matters

The Aqua Terra was introduced in 2002 as the Seamaster meant for a shirt cuff rather than a wetsuit, sitting between Omega's dress pieces and its divers. The current design dates from 2017, when the teak stripes were turned horizontal and shallower, the date moved to 6 o'clock, the case was made symmetrical and the crown was no longer recessed into the caseband.

The 38mm sits in the middle of the range, under the 41mm and above the smaller cases, and takes the 8800 where the larger size takes the 8900. This reference is the steel and Sedna gold version, with a gold bezel and a two-tone bracelet, rather than the all-steel 220.10.38.20.03.001. Blue is a widely available dial colour in this generation, which makes comparison straightforward.

The movement

Calibre 8800 is a Master Chronometer with a Co-Axial escapement, a free-sprung balance with a silicon balance spring and 55 hours of reserve, certified by METAS in the cased watch rather than as a loose movement. It resists 15,000 gauss. The finishing, with arabesque Geneva waves and rhodium plating, is visible through the sapphire back.

On the wrist

38mm, water resistant to 150m, with a screw-in crown and a case listed at around 13.2mm, which sits comfortably under most cuffs. The blue dial is sunburst, with gold hands and applied indices that pick up the Sedna gold of the bezel and bracelet. At 38mm this is the most flexible size in the range for a wide spread of wrist sizes.

Questions we are asked about this reference

What separates the 38mm from the 41mm?

Case diameter and the calibre. The 38 uses the 8800, the 41 uses the 8900. The 8900 also runs 60 hours against the 8800's 55 and has an independently adjustable hour hand. Dial layout and finishing are otherwise the same family.

Can it be worn in water?

150m and a screw-in crown are rated for swimming, subject to a current pressure test, which we recommend before any water use on a pre-owned watch. It is designed as an everyday watch rather than a diver.

Does the dial come in other colours?

The generation has run in several colours, including grey, black, green and silver, plus later turquoise and Shades dials. Blue is among the most commonly seen, which makes it straightforward to compare examples.

The collection

Seamaster Aqua Terra

The quiet Seamaster, made for a shirt cuff more than a wetsuit

Aqua Terra arrived in 2002 as the calmer end of the Seamaster range, rated to 150m but built for land rather than diving. The teak dial pattern, drawn from yacht decking, is the identifying feature, running vertically before 2017 and horizontally since. Movements have carried Master Chronometer certification since the 2017 generation, with Co-Axial chronometer calibres before that. The 41mm case measures 13.2mm thick, and with 30mm through 43mm in the range there is a size for most wrists.

Sizes in the family

Current line runs 30mm to 43mm, mostly 38mm and 41mm

Who it suits

For the buyer who wants one watch for work and weekends without the bulk of a diver.
