The Santos-Dumont is the flatter, quieter Santos, drawn closer to the 1904 original than to the sports watch the line became. Skeletonised, the Roman numerals stop being printed and become the bridges of the movement itself.

Fun fact: Cartier patented the idea of load bearing numerals in 2009 with the calibre 9611 MC, so the numbers you read are holding the wheels in place. A finisher spends weeks bevelling the edges of one of these movements by hand.
