Green entered the 37mm Royal Oak range with the 50th anniversary references and stayed on as standing production afterwards. The 15551 carries the diamond bezel against a full rose gold case and bracelet.

This Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Selfwinding wears a 37mm 18k rose gold case with a khaki tapisserie dial under a diamond-set bezel. Calibre 5900 inside, on an 18k rose gold bracelet.

Fun fact: Audemars Piguet does not call this dial green. Its own designation is khaki, which is why dealers index the reference under green and the manufacturer files it under khaki.

The 1972 steel sports watch that set the template for the integrated bracelet

The Royal Oak arrived in 1972, widely credited as the first luxury sports watch in steel, drawn by Gérald Genta around an octagonal bezel held down by eight visible screws. Everything else follows from that: the bracelet integrated into the case and tapering to the clasp, the Tapisserie dial on most references, the hand-finished play of brushed tops against polished bevels. The line now runs from simple time and date up to perpetual calendars and open-worked pieces.
