Royal Oak Selfwinding Chronograph (Yellow Gold)

The 41mm Royal Oak Selfwinding Chronograph was rebuilt for the Royal Oak's 50th anniversary in 2022 around the in-house calibre 4401. Yellow gold didn't arrive in this case until March 2024, and it borrowed its dial treatment rather than inventing one: the gradient from bright gold at the centre to near-black at the edge first appeared in 2022 on the yellow gold Jumbo Extra-Thin, a piece that generated long waiting lists of its own.

This Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Selfwinding Chronograph wears a 41mm 18k yellow gold case with a smoked yellow-gold-toned Grande Tapisserie dial. Calibre 4401 inside, on an 18k yellow gold bracelet.

Fun fact: putting the Jumbo's dial gradient on a chronograph case changes its character more than the shared colour name suggests: reviewers who've handled both note the wider, thicker chronograph case with its protruding pushers reads considerably more aggressive on the wrist than the same finish does on the dressier Jumbo.
